Innovation is taking what is commonplace in two different spheres, and blending them in a third for the delight of others.
In this case, an amusing twist on an otherwise typical late-night pitch on local TV, plus jazz transcription of the musical notes and implicit chord changes behind the pitchman’s natural speaking voice — an everyday jazz skill applied in an unusual place. And then they’re blended together for the delight of others in a third place, in this case, YouTube.
The only thing missing from this equation is commercialization, but one assumes Mr. Jones got more business out of this remix of his TV commercial.
